Raleigh’s Roofing Contractor

Triangle weather hits a roof from two directions: spring hail and thunderstorm wind, then the rain-heavy remnants of Atlantic hurricanes. Patriots’ Roofing is a GAF President’s Club and Master Elite contractor serving Raleigh and the greater Triangle with roof replacement, roof repair, hail and storm damage insurance claims, free inspections, metal roofing, and commercial work. We are family-owned and fifth-generation, an IBHS FORTIFIED certified installer, BBB A+ Accredited, and rated 4.9 on Google, bringing the same crews and standards to Wake County as everywhere else we work in North Carolina.

What Triangle weather does to a Raleigh roof

Raleigh’s storm profile is different from the coast. The loudest threats arrive in spring and summer: thunderstorms that drop hail somewhere in Wake County most years, straight-line gusts that lift shingle tabs, and the rare outlier like the tornado that cut across Raleigh in April 2011. Hurricanes arrive weakened but not harmless; Fran pushed hurricane-force gusts through Raleigh in 1996 and dropped thousands of the city’s oaks onto rooftops, and storm remnants still track inland with soaking rain. Underneath it all runs the quiet wear of a humid subtropical climate.

  • Hail. A strike that looks minor from the driveway can fracture the fiberglass mat, and the leak shows up a year later. A documented inspection settles it before your policy’s filing window closes.
  • Wind. Thunderstorm gusts and hurricane remnants pry at the same weak points: tabs, ridge caps, flashing, and any shingle nailed high or short. Proper fastening and sealed edges keep a Raleigh roof intact.
  • Oaks and algae. The City of Oaks earns its name, and the trees collect a toll: dropped limbs, gutters packed with leaf litter, and shaded slopes that grow the dark algae streaks common in older Raleigh neighborhoods.

Hail and storm claims, documented so they hold up

When a storm cell tracks over the Triangle, the difference between a paid claim and a frustrating one is usually documentation. We photograph and chalk every elevation, record the collateral indicators adjusters look for (dented soft metals, spatter marks, torn screens), and prepare a scope your carrier can verify line by line. If the damage does not justify a claim, we say so plainly and fix what actually needs fixing. Start with a free roof inspection, or see how our storm damage and insurance claim process works.

Repair, replace, or build stronger

An isolated leak or a run of wind-lifted shingles usually calls for an honest roof repair. A roof at the end of its life, or one a hail event has totaled, is smarter money as a full roof replacement with a complete GAF system; as a Master Elite contractor we can register the 50-year Golden Pledge warranty on qualifying installs. Homeowners who want the strongest build can go IBHS FORTIFIED, a voluntary, hurricane-tested standard we are certified to install. One honest note: North Carolina’s FORTIFIED grants are aimed at coastal counties, so Wake County is not in the grant zone today (details on our NC grant page). Long-haul planners can compare standing-seam metal roofing, and financing is available on qualifying projects.

Built for the House You Have

A Century of Raleigh Housing, One Standard of Work

The Triangle’s housing stock spans a hundred years: 1920s bungalows around Five Points and Boylan Heights, mid-century ranches inside the Beltline, brick colonials in North Raleigh, and fast-growing subdivisions from Cary to Wake Forest. Each era hides its own decking, ventilation, and flashing quirks, and we match the roof system to the house instead of forcing one spec onto everything. Patriots’ Roofing is family-owned and fifth-generation, founded by the O’Brien family in 1836, and that is the standard every Raleigh roof gets.

  • GAF President’s Club, GAF’s highest honor, on top of Master Elite certification
  • IBHS FORTIFIED certified installer for voluntary stronger-than-code builds
  • Eligible for the 50-year GAF Golden Pledge warranty on qualifying installs
  • Ventilation and decking corrected during replacement, not papered over

Questions

Raleigh Roofing FAQ

Do you serve all of Raleigh and the surrounding Triangle towns?

Yes. We work across Raleigh and Wake County, including Cary, Apex, Wake Forest, Garner, Knightdale, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Morrisville, Wendell, and Zebulon, plus Clayton just over the Johnston County line. Request a free estimate and we will schedule a visit to your home.

Is Patriots’ Roofing local to Raleigh?

We are a North Carolina roofer, headquartered in Point Harbor on the coast, and the Triangle is part of our statewide NC service area. We are licensed in North Carolina (#85568), and unlike the storm-chasers who flood Wake County after a hail event and vanish, we are in this state year-round. Our reviews tell that story better than we can.

Does hail in Raleigh really do enough damage to file an insurance claim?

Often, yes. Spring and summer thunderstorms drop hail on Wake County most years, and hail damage is sneaky: fractured mats and granule loss rarely leak right away. We photograph every elevation and tell you plainly whether the damage supports a claim or just a minor repair, at no cost either way.

What do hurricane remnants do to roofs this far inland?

More than most homeowners expect. Hurricane Fran drove hurricane-force gusts through Raleigh in 1996 and dropped oaks onto roofs across the city, and weaker remnants still bring hours of wind-driven rain that finds every lifted shingle. After a named storm passes the Triangle, a documented roof check is cheap insurance; our storm damage and insurance claims page walks through the process.

Can I build a FORTIFIED roof in Raleigh, and is there grant money for it?

You can build one; we are an IBHS FORTIFIED certified installer. But we will be straight about the money: North Carolina’s FORTIFIED grants currently target coastal counties, and Wake County is not in that zone. Inland, FORTIFIED is a voluntary upgrade chosen for its sealed roof deck and stronger edges, not for a grant. See what FORTIFIED involves and ask your carrier whether it earns a policy credit.

What shingle holds up best in Raleigh’s climate?

An algae-resistant architectural shingle is the right baseline for most Triangle homes; the humid summers and oak shade that streak so many older Raleigh roofs are exactly what that treatment exists for. Standing-seam metal is worth a look if you plan to stay for decades. We spec the system to the house, not the other way around.
